Nothing comes between me and my Calvin...

KNOCK OFF.
Back in December I fell in love with a Bazaar spread featuring this insanely gorgeous Calvin Klein Collection dress and I posted about it here.
It wasn't so much the exact details, as the fabulous feel of the dress and the photo entirely... (crimson lips, liquid cat eye, creamy white fabric with a dramatic front....)

So I did what every girl in my position would do. I plopped down three grand and bought myself this stunner!
OK, I didn't. I paid my rent, kept the electric on and decided to continue feeding my child.

But I did find a way to recreate my own interpretation of that look for a night out on the town with my guy. Here's how I did it:
I found a thrifted dress that had been sitting in my closet for years. I had only worn it once to the theatre (pronounced thee-uh-tu), as there was something a little off about it. So I met up with my design partner and we got to work!

After a few alterations, (a tea length hem, a dramatic cut & a tie front addition) I went from this...
To this:

It was a beautiful night, but mostly because I "felt" beautiful (and accomplished, and proud...) Isn't that always the case?
