Vintage Carolina Herrera Dress

Monday, April 7, 2014

Argh... who needs a professional camera anyway? Nikon still on the fritz, the hubs snapped these iPhone shots of my outfit for a very special dinner and birthday celebration for one of his oldest friends over the weekend.

It was such a fun evening.

Immediately upon returning home, though... I realized why buying vintage can sometimes be tricky. Don't get me wrong - the fact that I scored this gorgeously detailed Carolina Herrera dress for under twenty bucks and it fits me like a glove, is one of those thrifting dreams-come-true. But we (the hubs and I) had some trouble getting me out of it at the end of the night. The zipper was more than a little stuck. It wouldn't budge. And I found myself at that strange, freak-out point where I was pretty near severe claustrophobia and had to get that thing off of me at all costs. So we ripped it. Right down the seam and then some. Tragic, I know. But I have a very good tailor that I'll be bringing a nice, warm cup of coffee to very soon, in hopes that she can save it.

Have a fabulous week!

Feb/March Looks in Review

Friday, April 4, 2014

Friends!

Please, please forgive me for disappearing around these parts lately.

Two reasons have me silenced a bit:

1. My Nikon BROKE. It's in repairs. Some sort of shutter problem and I'd be more angry about it if I had more time. Which leads me to...

2. Time. Could I have more of it please?

Hope you're all doing lovely and well.

Casual Uniform

Saturday, March 29, 2014

Sometimes I find it funny that I have a closet full of things I love, yet on a casual and busy day, I tend to reach for the same pieces time and time again. Easy jeans, v-neck tee, motorcycle boots and a boyfriend blazer or sweater.

I suppose a "uniform" is anything you feel most yourself in, most comfortable in, and the easiest way to explain the term "effortless."

I'm pretty much obsessed with these boots and will surely wear them until they fall apart. I love Sole Society because they make some seriously great shoes at really affordable prices.

This sweater was actually a score from a clothing exchange, a super fab girlfriend of mine realized it didn't work for her and passed it along. I gave up some gems I never wore and everyone was happy.
I'll be hosting another exchange soon, an excuse to get together with girlfriends again and give myself a deadline to finish and host it in my Séchoir office!

Things are looking up.

Just got some great news regarding the new business, friends... and I am seriously on cloud 9. It's all happening.

Keep believing, keep going... keep surrounding yourself with positive believers! Don't stop! Go go go!

Going Hard + Faking a White Suit

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

Sorry for the silence around here, friends. We were in Florida all last week visiting family. It was such a nice and much-needed little break, but now it's back to business as usual!

I've been hitting so many obstacles with the new biz. Crazy to admit? Maybe. But I think it's important to tell the truth around here. After all, I'm among friends. (Right?) Starting my own company has been one of the most difficult tasks I've ever taken on. I see now why so many people give up, fail, or walk away from dreams that once seemed so sparkly and bright.

But I've never been one to shy away from a challenge.

Someone once told me that it would be three times harder and take three times longer than I expected...

They were right.

I think I'm right smack-dab in the middle of that point where I either go hard or go home.

And I'm not going anywhere.

On a fashion note, I've always loved the idea of a white suit. Until I find and invest in that perfect one, I'll fake my own with slim, white jeans and a white blazer.

Have a great day, guys! xx

Work Look

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Happy work-week, friends! I'm actually in Florida right now on a little family vaca (I know, wish you were here too) and since I can't share the glorious sunshiny weather with you at the moment, I'll share a recent work look I wore while interviewing crew for Séchoir.

Have a fabulous day! Check in on instagram (@tanyadempsey) for real time, and real sun. #heaven

Tea Length Skirts + Crisp White Shirts

Thursday, February 27, 2014

Of all the spring trends I'm eager to try, I'm so excited about skirts! So many feminine, truly lady-like options to try. The tea lengths especially have me sold. I love the fullness of this taffeta skirt paired with a crisp, white button-down. It feels very sophisticated and elegant, but still fun.

Mother/Son featuring Gap Style + Séchoir

Thursday, February 20, 2014

I'm such a huge fan of Gap. Being able to go shopping in store or online for the entire family is such a perk. If you sign up for their mailing list you'll constantly get coupons for discounts (generally around 20-40% off) for super great deals, so I'm guilty of always having a few items in my shopping cart... then as soon as I get notification of a discount code - bam! It's mine.
I

Baby Bo is wearing - all Gap too. (HUGE 40% off sale going on for kids right now!)

Of course I had to feature one of my most favorite brands in my newest Séchoir video. If you're a mom, then you'll certainly appreciate the chaos of the shoot... just try to tell a toddler to stand still for more than 5 seconds. Still, through all the madness, we created one of my most favorite videos to date.

There's nothing like the love between a mother and child and I am blessed. Thanks for all your support, guys.

Casual in Polka Dots

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

It's been a crazy past week. Valentine's was super mellow with the fam and some sweet friends of ours who joined us for dinner. We also attended the most adorable kiddo birthday hosted by my friend who throws the most major parties (you may remember this one here). This time it was circus themed and we all dressed up. (Stay tuned...)

Speaking of circus, how do you feel about polka dots popping up everywhere lately? This Gap shirt shirt is so easy to wear, I think it might give my simple white one a run for it's money.

Valentine Crush - The Jackie O in Blush

Friday, February 14, 2014

If you follow along on Facebook with me or my company, Séchoir, you may have already seen some of our obsessions and complete devotion to the line Black Halo. This particular style of dress is called the Jackie O and I featured it here yesterday too, but in a fabulous print.

This antique rose is such a sweet and feminine color that I might just adore it even more. Classics really get me because I know I can invest my money and they will live in my closet for a very long time.

Make sure to check out the little video we did on my video styling series, and stay tuned for more with Black Halo.

Happy love day, lovers. xx
