I don't want to judge
What's in your heart
But if you're not ready for love
How can you be ready for life?

Farewell Paris//Coffee on the terrace

Friday, July 12, 2013

Well, it took about two weeks of blogging to capture just five short days in Paris, France. To say that it was a life changing experience is a total understatement and to say that I'm counting down the days until I can return is pretty accurate. I still need to visit so many places I missed the first time around, including Les Puces flea market (Can you believe I missed this?) and Père Lachaise Cemetary, where Jim Morrison among other greats are buried.

I can guarantee I will reminisce from time to time and still have some snapshots, street art and food/wine posts to share, but as far as What I Wore in Paris... this is it, my friends. The final look is a deliciously soft tee from Coin 1804 that I know you'll want to to get your hands on too. So I'm giving one away on Monday! Stay tuned... and don't tell my sis I still have her hat.

Love pad locks, missing Picasso and art shaping who we are...

Thursday, July 11, 2013

This was the only piece I got to admire from my beloved Picasso...  Musee National Picasso Paris was sadly closed that day for renovations. Although, I can't be too upset, getting to stay just steps away from where Picasso once lived and painted. By the way, this piece? Oh, just hanging out in an unassuming gallery window... we stumbled upon it as we were walking to Museum d'Orsay.

I have a fondness for rhinos and penguins and loved that this guy was there to greet us as we arrived to the museum. I got some pretty nice shots of my new friend, one of which will end up framed in my little guys room.

Unlike the Louvre, no photography was allowed inside the museum, which was actually quite nice. It felt less touristy and more focused on the art... allowing a reverence for the pieces and quiet contemplation for those admiring the displayed.

Arriving to this clock tower was spectacular and unexpected and I was happy to have my trusty Nikon on me in the one area they allowed photography. The view was breathtaking and dream-like and this photo does it zero justice.

Have you heard of love pad locks at Lovers Bridge? Located near the Louvre, the Pont des Arts bridge overlooks the River Seine and has become a famous spot for couples all over the world to come and "lock" their love together forever. You write your names, lock it on the bridge and throw your key into the river.

Of course we had to do it. Someday we'll come back and show our children how much mommy and daddy love each other. (And how much we love them too!)

See why Paris is the city for lovers?

With Love,

{Real} Paris street style

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

I know Paris Fashion Week has been all the rage for street style lately, but here's a little glimpse into what {real} Parisians wear. (OK, there's one non-Parisian in the mix. See if you can spot it!) I kept finding myself seriously drawn to the menswear and I can feel myself evolving... less boho, more grown-up (maybe it's the haircut) and Paris was the perfect place to be inspired. And can I just tell you, I'm so in love with the mature French woman and her effortless, yet distinct style.
This gloomy, overcast California day is the perfect time to study these subjects and start dreaming up my fall wardrobe wishes.

PS - today is my beautiful sister Mandy's birthday. Happy birthday, sis! Someday we'll go to Paris together. I love you. xx

Just my favorite shoes, walking on my favorite streets, wearing my favorite black jeans and favorite denim shirt... {More from Paris}

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Can you get over these doors?? I seriously cannot. Grand, glorious, colorful things on nearly every building, on every street corner. I hope you're not tiring of all my Paris shots because I have so much to share. (I will likely complete my first European trip by way of blog this week, however.) It rained a lot more than anticipated, as I mentioned. So flowy, romantic numbers were out. We also did a helluva lot more walking than I thought, so tossing in my perfectly worn-in snakeskin flats and favorite denim shirt at the last minute was a good thing. I have this habit of wanting to buy new clothes for every vacation but I had ZERO time to do so for this trip, so some oldies but goodies were in order.

We also only did a drive-by tourist run of the Eiffel Tower. This was an iPhone shot on the way to dinner. And that was good enough for me.

More tomorrow,

Birds flyin' high... you know how I feel

Monday, July 8, 2013

Do you believe in past lives? That souls can be connected through time, time and time again?

This happened. Here.
And I was there.
Serendipitously staying at a hotel just steps away...

One of my favorite moments from our trip to Paris. Probably one of my favorite moments in life. For more on Pablo Picasso when he lived and painted at 7 Rue des Grands-Augustin from 1937-1955 go here.

Outfit idea for a night out! {4th of July}

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

Happy 4th, loves!

If you follow along via Instagram, you may have already seen a peek of this outfit in real time, as we headed off to a beautiful dinner at L'affable restaurant on our second night in Paris. Can you believe the gorgeous blue tile? It was in the bathroom, of all places. (I know!) Of all the items I packed, this outfit may have been my fave. I felt most like me, sleek, understated, but with some attitude thrown in. If you're headed out to dinner or a party for Independence day festivities and looking for outfit inspiration that's a bit dressed up, try a version of this: Black jeans, black peplum top, a pop of a red heel and maybe throw in a blue clutch. A nod to 4th of July, without going overboard. Don't forget the red lips!

Black skinny denim - Joes Jeans
Red & gold heels - Zara
Lipstick - Nars Heatwave

Polka dots and the Louvre

Tuesday, July 2, 2013

I'll always think back on my time in Paris as an experience of the senses. Beautiful art, beautiful food, amazing wine and long walks through gorgeous, historical streets listening to the gentle hum of the French language. I will never be the same.
