Sunday Finds ~ Ralph & Vintage & Houndstooth, oh my!

Monday, October 10, 2011

Remember when I found this houndstooth skirt here? I've been dying for an opportunity to wear it, and finally got to do so on one of our breezier days in LA.
I was so inspired when I found this pic of the iconic Brigitte Bardot (on my Pinterest here) that it sort of re-ignited my love of wide headbands. (Also quite helpful when growing out bangs.)
This baby has pockets and a nipped in waist that makes tucking in thin sweaters, that much more flattering.
I felt pretty feminine and flirty the entire day, and choosing my most comfortable Banana Republic Mary Jane's made the stepping a bit lighter too, even when chasing after a two year old.
Ready for my scores from yesterday?!

OK, I don't like to brag but... who am I kidding, I LOVE to brag.  Ralph Lauren hand knit sweater, with tags still on for 1/2 price of $7.50. That's $3.75 people. Three-seventy-five. Oh the color's so pretty!

And on the dollar rack, just waiting for me to spot her and take 'er on home... an adorable pale blue a-line skirt, circa Mad Men, me thinks?
Have you ever seen a prettier label in your life?
Ahhh... happiness. Have a fabulous week, my loves!

Momo's March - Art Deco Jewelry Giveaway!! (Closed)

Thursday, October 6, 2011

When a darling friend of mine showed up wearing the most stunning earrings I had ever seen, I had to know where and how she got them! Turns out, they were the exact pair featured in the September issue of People Style Watch!
So I got my hands on a pair for myself and just couldn't wait to share the details with you guys about this gorgeous line! Big surprise that I swooned over them because everything is vintage inspired, art deco 20's, and all hand designed by designer, Chistina Lu - clearly a woman after my own heart.
Christine believes that "a piece of jewelry tells its own story, a story that becomes uniquely the wearer's own." Each piece in the collection is based upon the concept of "wearable thought." (I love that!)
Momo's March (named after her dog) already has a massively successful following in Asia. Made from a variety of18k gold, sterling silver, semi precious stones, and the highest quality CZ's available, these pieces are more of a fashionista's dream collector's item, than costume jewelry.

The necklaces and bracelets are equally to-die-for and fit so perfectly within my definition of classic, yet completely modern, by way of reinventing what was so spectacular about the past. (Pretty much my motto with fashion.)
After trying on just about everything they have to offer, they were gracious enough to let me photograph my favorite pieces AND offer November Grey readers a chance to win a little Momo for themselves!

Excited? Wait for it...
In addition to the stunning "V" Earrings I'm wearing here, (and also featured in People!) I think the bracelets are some of the most unique pieces I've ever seen.

This Cut Out Deco Bracelet literally made my jaw drop.

And how cool is this Black/Clear Wide Cuff just begging to jazz up any super cas(ual) outfit you have, with a simple flick of the wrist!

And now for the piece that could be yours...! This Double Chain Center Stone Bracelet is so feminine and dainty, with just enough of an edge to give it a little spunk. Gorgeous, right?

To be eligible for drawing:
  • You must be a follower of November Grey ~ (if you are already a follower, let me know!)
  •  "Like" them on Facebook (Click here! or find them under "Our Closet Sales Representative") and comment back here that you did so.

Sunday Finds & My First Vintage Skirt

Monday, October 3, 2011

Happy Monday, lovely friends... I found this perfect black poly button up on a $1 thrift shop and after a few button repairs, it was as good as new! I'm loving it with my very first (ever!) thrifted skirt that I had redesigned into a mini. It was serendipitously cool that I found it just in the nick of time for fall, after being packed away for SEVERAL lost seasons in a suitcase I never use.
(New here? I'm obsessed with scoring vintage pieces and making $1 thrift finds look like a million. (The key is mixing in designer/high end and often just a good shoe/bag!) I do major vintage redesigns with my styling partner and we share tutorials with you on how to do it all at Secondhand Star - check it out here!)
Speaking of awesome finds, my Sunday thrift shop yesterday did not disappoint... Ready?
This FREAKING ADORABLE knit vintage fox sweater for a cool $3.25 (Don't you just love?!)
And this truly unique blouse for $1 that I just pulled off the rack and purchased without even trying it on. I KNEW it would work tucked into a fitted pencil. I was right.
Stay tuned to see how I styled them both! And check back in this week for the winner of the leather bracelet giveaway, another (A-MAZING) jewelry giveaway, pix from event coverage, and more!
